James "Jimmy" Alvin Forrester (1933-2014) - Class Of 1951

James Alvin "Jim" Forrester succumbed to a severe illness on August 11, 2014 at the age of 81. He was born in Montgomery, AL on June 23, 1933 and resided in Gulf Shores, AL at the time of his death. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, Saint Margaret's Hospital School of Nursing, both in Montgomery, AL, and the United States Army School of Anesthesia at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He was also an alumnus of the University of Alabama. Jim was a 25 year veteran of the Army, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and serving as both an officer and enlisted Soldier. He was also a combat veteran of Viet Nam.

Jim is survived by Marci, his wife of 50+ years of Gulf Shores, AL; his daughter Amy Lynn Skidmore and her husband Greg of Bridge City, TX; his son Kevin Scott Forrester and his wife Myra of Fort Belvoir, VA; his son James Patrick Forrester and his wife Becky of Tuscaloosa, AL; and his eight grandchildren Caitlin, Devon, Drew, Christian, Timothy, Michelle, Matthew, and Megan. He is also survived by his brother Sam Scott Forrester and his wife, Sara of Knoxville, TN and his two nieces Dana Forrester of Nashville, TN and Saunya Wenger of Knoxville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hayward and Josephine Forrester and his infant sister Sally Jo Forrester, all of Montgomery, AL.

A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on August 15th at 10:00am with his son Chaplain Kevin Scott Forrester presiding. Family and friends will be received for a time of visitation at Leak Memory Chapel from 6:30pm - 8:00pm on August 14th.
