James "Jimmy" L. Champion (1932-2017) - Class Of 1951

James "Jimmy" L. Champion, 84, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on September 10, 1932, the son of the late Yarbrough L. and Claudie B. Champion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wayne Champion and his son, Mark A. Sheridan preceded Jimmy in death.

Jimmy is survived by a sister, Peggy Champion (Harold) Boyd of Rome, GA., nephews J. Randall (Lisa) Boyd of Nashville, TN., Richard H. (Lynn) Boyd of Atlanta, GA. and a niece Christa B. (Darin) Wright of Florence, Ala., a longtime special and loving friend and caregiver, Aileen Sheridan, her children, Mike Sheridan, daughter Pat (Mike) Pugh all of Prattville, Alabama.

Jimmy worked at the Montgomery Water Works until his retirement in 1991. Jimmy joined the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged in 1955.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Prattville Chapel Wednesday, March 8 at 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM followed by a graveside funeral service in Durden Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Pastor Winston Brooks officiating.
