Donjette Yarbrough was born January 18, 1933, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Ruby and Lorenzo Stewart. She attended Sidney Lanier High School and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Social Work. She married James David Yarbrough on June 12, 1954, and ndcelebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June.
Mother was a social worker at Partlow in Alabama and later in Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished friend to many.
Mother never met a stranger; she bonded quickly with all types of people often inviting them to Thanksgiving dinner. She had a huge heart for those in need-her empathy for those less fortunate, ill or just struggling was legendary and she set a wonderful example for her children and grandchildren to emulate.
Her wide network of friends, many who she knew for more than 50 years, will miss her warmth, honesty, irreverent sense of humor and her caring nature.
She participated in many civic organizations often hosting parties and meetings for these groups. She was an active lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to thank Terralyn Muttaki for her loving care of our mother, the staff of Hallmark Manor at the Capstone Village for their incredible compassion and professionalism and the fine nurses and staff of West Alabama Hospice.
In honor of our mother, hug your family and tell them that you love them, take a friend to lunch or help a stranger.
