Jane Rutherford (Hutcheson) (1931-2017) - Class Of 1950

Jane Rutherford Hutcheson, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 29, 2017.

Jane was born December 22, 1931 and resided in Montgomery, AL where she graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1950. She married Everett Vinson Hutcheson, Jr. on June 7, 1952. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to 3 sons and 2 daughters. Jane's community involvement included service as Girl Scout Troop Leader, PTA President, and Young Life sponsor. At the time of her death she was an avid member of the Mothers' Round Table and the Magnolia Garden Club. Jane loved to travel and spend time at Lake Martin with her family and friends.

Jane was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church where she was actively involved and belonged to the Tower Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Vinson Hutcheson, her daughter, Carole Jane Hutcheson, her brothers, John Frederick Rutherford, Jr., Carl Benson Rutherford, and Harold Glenn Rutherford and her sisters-in-law, Ann Rutherford and Eddie Rutherford.

Jane is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Everett "Hutch" Hutcheson, Jr. and her children, John Hutcheson (Harriett) of Montgomery, AL, Martha Celeste Priest (John) of Cary, NC and Mark Hutcheson of New York, NY. Jane is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul Vinson Hutcheson, Jr. (Lauren) of Montgomery, AL, Mary Everette Saucer (Garrett) of Montgomery, AL, Marilee Lauren Hutcheson of Montgomery, AL, Ann Elizabeth Moore (Sedrick) of Birmingham, AL, Jane Marie Hutcheson of New York, NY, Katherine Priest of Jackson, MS, Mallory Priest of New York, NY, Hutcheson Priest of Oxford, MS, and Mary McConnell Priest of Cary, NC. Also surviving Jane are her great grandchildren, Mary Michael Hutcheson, Paul Vinson Hutcheson III, Lowery Elizabeth Saucer, and Everette McClure Saucer. Jane also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Susan Hutcheson Gammage (Daniel), sister Bessie Kate Nickel (Eldon), and her two sisters-in-law Betty Ann Rutherford and Burma Rutherford. Pallbearers will be Paul Hutcheson, Jr., Garrett Saucer, Hutcheson Priest, Clark Allen, Andrew Nichols, and Rush Stallings.

Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church, 2416 W. Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, AL 36106 on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 12:00-1:00 pm and a celebration of life service officiated by Dr. Karl Stegall and Dr. Jeremy Pridgen at 1:00 pm with graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery of Montgomery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Stegall Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church.
