Harold Glenn "Duck" Rutherford, Sr. (1930-2010) - Class Of 1951


RUTHERFORD, Harold Glenn "Duck", Sr., age 80, born in Deatsville, Al and a resident of Montgomery, Al died Saturday, Oct. 30. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Frazer Memorial Methodist Church. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Ed White. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Burial will follow at Deatsville Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his son, Harold Glenn Rutherford, Jr., two brothers, John Frederick (Eddie) Rutherford, Jr. and Carl Benson "Doc" (Burma) Rutherford. He is survived by his wife Betty Ann Bowden Rutherford, his son Travis McCall (Debbie) Rutherford, his daughter Kimberly Ann (Scot) Wilbourn, grandson Macon Glenn Wilbourn; step-children, Beth (Tom) Young, Scott (Shannon ) Woodard and their children, Matthew Dorer, Chelsea Dorer, Madison Woodard and Reilly Woodard; sisters, Bessie Kate (Eldon) Nickel and Jane (Everett "Hutch") Hutcheson. Mr. Rutherford attended Huntington College and the University of Alabama. He served in the United States Army Reserve where he was a member of the band. He was a member of the Alcazar Shrine Temple and Shrine Brass Band for 50 years. He was also a charter member of the Montgomery Recreators Band, member of Montgomery Community Band and a recent member of the Wetumpka Community Band. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Alcazar Shrine Brass Band. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alcazar Shrine Temple Transportation fund.
