William Yougene 'Bill' Lamar (1932-2018) - Class Of 1950

William Yougene "Bill" Lamar, 86, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, died Tuesday, February 6, at a local hospital following an illness. His parents, Mary Amelia (Yougene) and Robert Jones Lamar, preceded him in death, as did a sister, Margaret Amelia Lamar Wheeler and three brothers, Robert Standring Lamar, Thomas Leonard Lamar and Claude Henderson Lamar.

Bill was a graduate of the Class of 1950 at Lanier High School. He was a graduate of Huntingdon College and enjoyed a long career in the Montgomery real estate development. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as part of the Third Army Band. He was a longtime member of the Montgomery Planning Commission and was an affiliate of the Poundstone Class at First Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine Giglio Lamar; two children, William Yougene Lamar Jr., and Elizabeth Lamar Young and her husband, Beau; two brothers, Dr. Woodward Durham Lamar and Lewis Wardlaw Lamar; four grandchildren, William Yougene Lamar III, Christopher Livingston Lamar, William Chancellor "Chance" Young and Anne Wesley Young.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at Greenwood Cemetery by Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Leak Memory Chapel.

Pallbearers are Thomas William Young, William Chancellor Young, Dr. Gene Brown, Ansel James Wheeler, Jr., Thomas D. Champion, Richard W. McAdams and John Hudson Garrett.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mitchell Allen, Buddy Dennis and Cylar Freeman, and the employees of Aronov Realty Management's Shopping Center Division.
