Cary Winston Fuller, Jr. (93), a lifelong resident of Montgomery, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, after a brief hospital stay.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Kay Heath Fuller; his parents, Cary Winston Fuller, Sr. and Rachael Humphrey Fuller; and his sister Rachael Fuller Perkins.
He is survived by his sister, Frances Fuller Green; his sister-in-law, Wanda Heath Sills (Richard); his children, Margaret Fuller Haack (Robert) and Charles Cary Fuller (Darlene); his grandchildren, Allison Haack Parcus (Jason), Jessica Haack Johnson (Zach), Lauren Elizabeth Fuller and Hailey Morgan Fuller; his great-grandchildren, Noah Robert Parcus, Hannah Grace Parcus, Luke Carlton Parcus and Emmett Cary Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Cary attended Sidney Lanier High School and after his military service, Auburn University. He chose a career in sales and was a long-time associate with Bishop-Parker Furniture Company.
He was a proud member of the 31st Infantry Division mobilized during the Korean War, serving stateside based out of Camp Atterbury in Indiana where Cary was a member of the ceremonial band, playing the bass drum.
Cary was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery from cradle roll to death. He served as an ordained Deacon, Sunday School, and Training Union teacher, and attendance coordinator. He participated in many mission trips and mission activities.
His hobbies included woodworking, photography, gardening, and travel. Most of all, he loved being a Daddy, a Granddaddy to four granddaughters, and a Great-Granddaddy of four. Visiting family and being visited meant the world to him.
His family would like to thank his caregiver team from Home Care Assistance, especially Ms. Kimberly Barnett who cared for him well, and his trusted home helpers Mattie Webster and Willie Bennett. This valued team allowed him to remain home where he was most comfortable.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Foundation or the First Baptist Caring Center.
A friends and family visitation for Cary will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life parlor service at 2:00 PM with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery.
