William "Billy" Franklin Hinton (1930-2011) - Class Of 1949

William Franklin Hinton, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2011. Mr. Hinton was born on September 11, 1930 in Montgomery, AL and was a resident of Metairie, LA for 47 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn T. Hinton; his daughter, Elaine H. Burroughs (Dave) and three step grandchildren, Alison B. Hux, Christine B. Scott and Michael Burroughs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin F. and Prude S. Hinton and his sister Mary Elizabeth Sellers. Mr. Hinton graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, Montgomery, AL in 1949 and graduated from Auburn University in 1958. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force 1951-1955. Mr. Hinton was a claims adjuster and litigation specialist for Crawford & Company for 34 years retiring in 1993. He attended Old Metairie Protestant Church and was an elder at Canal St. Presbyterian Church and Parkway Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Gideons International New Orleans and a member of the Masonic LA Lodge No. 102. A memorial service will be held in Metairie, LA at a later date.
