Marianne Beam Brunson (March 15, 1931- June 19, 2024), a lifelong resident of Montgomery, passed away peacefully after a short illness at age 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald Herbert Brunson Jr., her parents Thomas Cullen Beam and Alma Philyaw Beam, and her brother Fred Ackerman Beam.
She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Brunson McLemore (Bill), and her son, Donald Herbert Brunson III (Lynn); her grandchildren (who affectionally called her MaMa), Elizabeth McLemore Baker (Keith), William Henry McLemore III (Meredith), Donald Herbert Brunson IV, and Beau Oliver Brunson; and her great-grandchildren, Eliza Murphy McLemore, Vivienne Ruth McLemore, and Laura Elizabeth Baker.
Marianne graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1949, where she was a cheerleader for all three years, and from Montevallo College in 1953. She spent her entire career as a microbiologist for the State of Alabama Health Department in the Milk and Water Laboratory.
A member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, Marianne was active in many areas of church life. Among her many joys were spending time at Blue Mountain Beach, watching her grandchildren play and grow up, and traveling to New York Life conventions around the country with her husband Don.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Answered Prayer, John Knox Assisted Living at Arrowhead, and John Knox Nursing Home on Narrow Lane Road. They would like to give special thanks to Jennetta Mormon.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Joseph Ministry, the Montgomery Humane Shelter, or your favorite charity. A family and friends visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 11:00 to 12:00, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at noon.
