Mrs. Doris Wright Ward, a resident of Opelika for 49 years passed away August 29, 2017. Mrs. Ward was born in Columbus, GA. June 21, 1930 and was raised in Montgomery, AL. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Ward, her parents, Sidney D. Wright and Elma Funderburk Wright, a sister: Betty Joyce Wright, brother: Sidney David Wright, Jr. She is survived by her children; Paul Ward (Lucy); Joyce Dunn (George), and Janice Lofland (Frank). Her grandchildren: Cicely King, Amanda Kriel, Hannah Self, Jeremy Ward, Justin Ward, Duncan Ward, Brian Henley, Michael Henley, John Lofland, Suzanne Lofland, Jess Lofland, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a sister Marjorie Wright. Mrs. Ward was a member of the 10th Street Church of Christ in Opelika, AL. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at the 10th Street Church of Christ at 2:00pm with visitation from 12:00 until 2:00. Burial will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
