Ann Smith, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama., passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the age of 84.
Born on July 30, 1930, she was raised in Montgomery where she graduated from Sidney Lanier High School and Draughn Business School. In 1950, she married James Henry Smith. They spent 54 loving years together until he preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Holland Merrill and Celestine T. Merrill.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Smith Nation; her son, John Smith (Jennifer); grandchildren, Dana Nation Grubbs (Britt) Paula Nation Barnett (Chris), Jami-Ann Nation, and Aubrey Smith; a sister, Celeste Barnett (Verne); her best friend, Dot Casey and her dauschund, Henry.
Ann dedicated her life to taking care of her family and was well known for her sewing talents and delicious recipes. She was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Montgomery Chapter # 180 OES and Daughter of the Nile.
Pallbearers will be Britt Grubbs, Chris Barnett, Rodney Kendrick, Rolland Casey, Tom Smith and Tony Brooks.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014, 11:00am, at Leak Memory Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Green. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to service.
