Henry Black Knighten, Sr. (1929-2011) - Class Of 1948

Henry Black Knighten, Sr., age 82, a resident of Lilburn, Georgia formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, joined his wife for Christmas, Friday morning, December 16, 2011. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Ginger and Jay Larkins of California; his son and daughter-in- law, Henry B., Jr. and Pamara of Jefferson, Georgia; and daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Willis of Snellville, Georgia. Five grandchildren, Mindy Arnette and husband David; Casey Nunn and wife Stephanie; Henry B. Knighten, III and wife Yuko, Amy Knighten and Remmington Willis. Great Grandchildren, Taylor Mac Arnette, Brady Thomas Arnette, Piper Price, Sebastian Nunn, Elliott Nunn, and Zachary Knighten. Mr. Knighten was born November 26, 1929 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a member of Norcross First United Methodist Church, a Life Time Member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, which he held the offices as Exalted Ruler of Decatur Elks Lodge 1602, State Vice President and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. He ran track at the University Of Alabama, and was selected to attend O.C.S. training at Fort Benning during the Korean War, and retired as Lt. Colonel from the Army. He continued his education at Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama, and retired at age 55 as the Associate Regional Director of Medicare for the Southeast Region. He was always the life of a party and the king of dance.
