Thomas "Tommy" Hugh Doron, Jr., age 83, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Saturday morning, February 9, 2013. He was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. His church ministry and radio and television career started in Montgomery, where he led music in various churches and was an on-air personality with WSFA Channel 12.
After working as a radio and television personality with WAPI Channel 13 in Birmingham, the U.S. Army Veteran enjoyed a 17-year career in hospital administration. He retired from Carraway Hospital as Director of Community Relations and Development. Tommy was a long-time member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jonathan David Abrams.
Survivors include Tommy's wife of 60 years, Mary Rambo Doron; three children, Rebecca (Howard) Abrams, Hugh Doron, and Kelley (Bill) Young; grandchildren, Mary Katherine (Thomas) Gray, Ashley LeRoy, and Christian Young; and one great-grandchild, Nevaeh LeRoy.
The family will greet friends one hour before the 10 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, Birmingham. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Montgomery Memory Gardens.
