Tina South (Hudson) (1930-2011) - Class Of 1947

Tina South Hudson, age 81, died at home in Elba, AL on November 30, 2011. She was born in Montgomery, AL and raised in Montgomery and Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery. Tina and the love of her life, husband Donald, fulfilled a dream and retired from Montgomery to Santa Rosa Beach, FL in 1990. Several years after the death of her husband in 2002, she returned to Montgomery, and this past year made Elba her home with her daughter and son- in-law, Sara and Al Smith. She attended Elba United Methodist Church. Tina was strong in her Christian faith. Her family is assured that she is now free of pain and suffering and in the arms of her Lord. Tina is survived by her daughter Sara Smith (Al), Elba, AL; grandsons Stephen Smith (Becca), Gainesville, GA; SSgt. Todd Smith, USMC (Christine), Camp Lejeune, NC; Ashlon Smith (Leslie), Park City, UT; brother Charles M. South (Karen), Montgomery, AL; nephew Brandon South (Amery), Montgomery, AL; Bill Tidwell (Carol) Seattle, WA; Bob Tidwell, California; nieces, Donna Jenkins (Pete), Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Babs Sadler (John), Columbus, GA, Katie Sniderman, Columbus, OH; and several dear cousins. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, December 4, 2011, at 1:30 pm at the Elba United Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Carter officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elba United Methodist Church, 503 W. Davis St., Elba, AL 36323. Hayes Funeral Home is directing. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the personnel of 1st Choice Hospice who became like family in helping Tina the past few months. The loving care that Tina received from each of these wonderful people helped her and the family through these last trying days.
