MIXSON, Ruth M., 80, a resi­dent of Sylacauga, Alabama,died March 22, 2009 at Brook­wood Medical Center. Funer­al services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009at First Baptist Church of Syla­cauga at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Keith Pugh and Rev. Tim Childers officiating. Interment will fol­low at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, Alabama. Visita­tion will be held Wednesday, March 25, from 12:00 noon to2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church.  Ruth is survived by her hus­band of 55 years, Dwight L.Mixson, Sr. of Sylacauga;sons, Dwight L. Mixson, Jr.and wife Julie, of Birmingham and W. Daniel Mixson and wife, Denise of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Reba Redden and Joy­ce Brooks, both of Montgom­ery; Grandchildren, Ashley Mixson, Jenny Mixson and John Mixson of Birmingham, Hayes Mixson, Emily Mixson and Anna Mixson of Pensaco­la, FL. She was a 1947 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School.Mrs. Mixson was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, serving as secretary for 15 years until she retired June 1, 1994. She was also youth director and taught Sunday School and was a member of the Adult III Co-Ed Sunday School Class.  She was active in night Wom­en on Missions. She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, Arthur and Ethel McAllis­ter and her brother, Ross McAllister.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Annie Armstrong Mission Of­fering at First Baptist Church, PO Box 234, Sylacauga, AL,35150. Pallbearers will be Ed Dark, Dalbert Marsh, Barry Vaughn, Harold Wheeles, David Curry, Chuck Davis, David Jackson,and Tom Biven.
