Cornelia T. Knowles (Spangler) (1928-2006) - Class Of 1946

 SPANGLER, Cornelia Knowles, passed away on November 25, 2006 after a long and very courageous battle with Cancer. Mrs. Spangler was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Michael Spangler, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Candace Tartt Caswell (Roger A.) Lilburn, Georgia, Cynthia Knowles Cartee (Ronald F.), Martinsburg, West Virginia and her husband's daughter, Julie Spangler Madden (Martin), Clarksville, Maryland; four grandchildren, lst Lt. Samuel Cowin Cartee, Baghdad, Iraq, Jessica Collins Cartee, Callahan Trudeau Caswell and Margurite Spangler Madden; her brother, Frank A. Knowles, Jr. and sister-in-law, Betty Sawyer Knowles, nephews Dr. Frank A. Knowles, III, Thom-as Cowin Knowles, and Eliza-beth Fairlie Outland. Mrs. Spangler was a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1946. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery where she faithfully served for 25 years in the children's ministry. Mrs. Spangler was also a member of the First United Methodist Church Altar Guild, as well as the Junior Thespian Club of Montgomery. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, Alabama on November 28, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Bishop Paul Duffey and Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Anthony Caswell, Ronald Frank Cartee, Martin Gerard Madden, Thomas Cowin Knowles, James Ken-neth Outland, Lance Ronald LaFluer, Steve Aldon Russell and Gordon Seth Persons as Crucifer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. We would like to acknowledge with great love and appreciation the prayers and support from our many friends in the "Sewing Club", the "Walking and Swimming Group", and the "Birthday Group". Also, our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude is extended to our angels on earth, Inez and James Dowe, Alberta Edwards and Hospice of Montgomery. Contributions may be made to the Music Ministry of the First United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.  Leak-Memory Chapel Directing.
