Frank Harvey "Sonny" Brown, 86, of Montgomery, Alabama died after an extended illness on October 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lentz Brown. He is survived by daughter Mary-Frank Brown; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth (Liz) and James Moore; and granddaughters Margaret (Maggie) and Rachel Moore. The funeral will be at Leak Memory Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26 with visitation at 1:30 p.m.
A Montgomery native, Brown was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and Auburn University. After graduating, he served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1959, he married his beloved wife, Margaret Lentz.
Brown retired from the Montgomery County Department of Public Health where he served as Director of Environmental Health. In retirement, he was active in the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance, serving as President and in several offices. He helped churches, families and communities to preserve local cemeteries and could often be found in rural Alabama documenting the locations of small cemeteries.
Brown faithfully served at Dalraida Baptist Church, where he was the youngest person to be elected deacon. Throughout his life, he taught Sunday School, was active in ministering to others, and served as a Trustee and as Chairman of the Deacons.
