Emily Warren (Hurt) (1928-2005) - Class Of 1945

HURT, Mrs. Emily W., 77, a life-long resident of Montgomery, AL died November 7, 2005 at her residence. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Finklestein and her hu-band Joe S. Finklestein, grandson Louis Pryor Finklestein, Montgomery, AL and Leigh Hurt and her significant other Larry Smith, Atlanta, GA and Robert H. (Bobby) Heilpern, her beloved and devoted companion. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Pryor Hurt; mother, Susie Neumann Warren; uncle, Louis Charles Neumann; and grandparents, Emma and Ferdinand Neumann. Mrs. Hurt was a 1944 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and a 1948 graduate of Huntingdon College where she received degrees in sociology and history. Upon graduation, she joined the State of Alabama's Department of Welfare (now Department of Pensions and Security) as a licensed social worker. In 1956, she joined her husband in growing a successful independent insurance agency, Alabama Auto Insurance. She also served the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts keeping records of accounts and transactions of business. She was a member of Temple Beth-Or and the Standard Club. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions may be made to the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Center for Palliative Care, the Division of Cardiovascular Disease, the American Alliance of Cancer Pain Initiatives (AACPI), or the Temple Beth-Or Floral Fund. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 2:00PM at Southern Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a private graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery.Southern Memorial Directing
