William Arvelle Roberts (Payne) (1928-1998) - Class Of 1945

William Arvelle "Robbye" Payne, 70, of Pensacola died early Sunday morning, October 11, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Payne was a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, and had resided in Montgomery, Alabama, before moving to Pensacola in 1972. She was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club and the Quilters Guild of Pensacola. She was a loving mother, beloved grandmother, and friend, as well as an accomplished bridge player, teacher, and director.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Liz Payne of Dallas, Tom and Pam Pavne of Molino, and Robert and Sandra Payne of Montgomery; a daughter, Frances White of Pensacola; two sisters, Martha Sue Gilliland of Eclectic, Alabama, and Jeanelle Garcia of San Jose, California; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Protestant minister officiating. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society
