Dr. Bruce Fowler Holding, Jr. (1928-2010) - Class Of 1945

HOLDING, Dr. Bruce Fowler, Jr., 82; son of Dr. Bruce F. Holding, Sr. and Esther Hill Holding was born in Mont­gomery on January 8, 1928, and entered the presence of his Lord Jesus on May 9, 2010. A memorial service is sched­uled at First Presbyterian Church- 9299 Vaughn Road in Montgomery on May 12,2010, at 1:00 p.m. with his Pas­tor Reed DePace officiating. His family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service in the church par­lor. Dr. Holding was a gradu­ate of Sidney Lanier High School and Huntingdon Col­lege. He received his mas­ter's degree from the Universi­ty of Alabama and his doc­torate in medicine from The Medical College of Alabamain 1955. Following his residen­cy and internship in Massa­chusetts, New Orleans, and Dallas, he returned to Mont­gomery to practice as an ENT for thirty years. He distin­guished himself in his med­ical career, exhibiting a com­passion for his patients and a passion for medical missions.  Bruce is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Roberta Butler Holding, and his five children and their spouses; Priscilla and John Stewart, Christy Holding Black, Melissa and Charles Kendall, Sherry and Bruce F. Holding, III; and An­gie and Dr. Jeff Benner. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren Bruce (Joha­nna); Drew (Emile); Robert,Michael, Aaron, Rebekah, Su­sanna, Zachary, Philip and Samuel Stewart; Benjamin Hoefling, Jacob Kendall;Madelyn, Fowler, and Hunter Holding; Jay, Joshua and Re­becca Benner; and one great grandchild, George Thompson Stewart. Extended family include his sister, Alice Holding Rollow and niece Delia Rollow; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jo and Al Rug­gles; nieces Allison (Ron) Gore and Madelyn (Jim) Candler; sister-in-law Ro­mayne McCabe and neph­ews John (Patsy), Kim, Kevin, Richard McCabe and nieces Denise Kirk and Shawn Lewis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Mont­gomery, The First Presbyterian Church of Montgomery or one's favorite charity. Larry D. Skelton (1961)

Dr.Holding put my face back together following a terrible auto crash in 1966.  Several times when I see him out shopping, I would remind him about it.  He would always pat my face and say "and what a nice job I did".  He was an outstanding man.  Thank you Lord for the life and service of this good man.
