Margaret Meriwether Rush passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, which she loved and participated in for many years. She was an active member of various organizations, including the Junior League of Montgomery, Camellia Garden Club, her sewing club and DAC. She was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and attended Huntingdon College. She enjoyed dance and assisted teaching dance lessons for some time. She was also a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Armistead Meriwether and Dr. Samuel Seelye Meriwether; and her brother Dr. Samuel Seelye Meriwether, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Atwood Bullock Rush; children, Ada Rush Thompson (Lamar) and Atwood (Woody) Bullock Rush, Jr (Angie) all of Montgomery, Alabama. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Caroline Thompson Omastiak (Kyle) of Auburn, James Rush Thompson (Liz), Camilla Thompson Austin (Barrett), Olivia Meriwether Rush, Atwood (Trey) Bullock Rush, III; and four great-grandchildren, Reid Omastiak, Layne Omastiak, Cate Thompson and Pierce Thompson.
Pallbearers will be James Rush Thompson, Atwood Bullock Rush, III, Kyle James Omastiak, Richard Barrett Austin, Nicholas Freeman Meriwether and Samuel Mark Meriwether.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.
