According to Wesley Phillips Newton, Class of 1943 and author of Montgomery in the Good War, Private Donald Godwin, at age 19, lost his life while serving our country in the European Theater in 1944.  His regiment sustained the most casualties of any Allied infantry regiment on D-Day.
