Mrs. Mildred Penelope Davis Shirley passed on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at age 90 at Charlton Rehabilitation Facility in Millbrook, Alabama of natural causes. She was born September 24th, 1924 in south Montgomery County to Wesley and Sallie Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, 2 pm at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Naylor officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Gardens, Millbrook, AL

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clyde L. Shirley, sister, Sybil Smith and brothers, Paul Davis and Frank Davis. She is survived by her four children, Glenda Caldwell, Carol Majors, Chip (Sandy) Shirley, all of Millbrook, AL; and Ed (Sharon) Shirley of Brundidge, AL; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shirley and her husband moved to Millbrook in 1955 and were both active in civic clubs and community organizations. She was the first woman to serve on the Millbrook City council and was a long time member of Coosada Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers family request memorials in her memory to favorite charity of choice . Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2015, 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.
