Mary Joyce Park (Boyd) (1924-2005) - Class Of 1942

BOYD, Joyce Park, age 80 of Stone Mountain, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28,2005 while vacationing in Clearwater, Florida. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 10, 1924 and a graduate of Judson College in Marion, Alabama. We thank God for His gift to us all. Joyce gave her heart to the Lord when she was nine years old and from that day forward, lived as Christ in serving others. Dear to her heart was the Southern Baptist ministry of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). Through God's touch, her love for Christ and others will continue to be seen, and enjoyed, for generations to come. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Milton Sanders Park and Mary E. Harwell, and her two older brothers, Milton S. Park Jr. and Franklin Park. She is survived by her dear and beloved husband of 55 years, Rev. James Leon Boyd, five children, 10 grandchildren, four great grand-children and one sister, Fran Arnold of Sylacauga, Alabama. Her surviving children include Ron Boyd and his wife Pam of Louisville, KY, Brenda Riley and her husband Gary of New Strawn, KS, Gerald Boyd and his wife Mindy of Memphis, TN, Robert Boyd and his wife Glenise of Birmingham, AL and Howard Boyd, of St. Louis, MO. Surviving grandchildren include Jeff, Kristen, Michael, David, Gee, Justin, Joshua, Hannah, Richard and Katherine along with four great grandchildren; Brent, Taylor, Kylen and Elanie. Also left behind are several nieces and nephews and numerous dear friends around the world. The Boyd family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, June 1, 2005 from 6-9pm at A. S. Turner Funeral Home located at 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2005 at The First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, GA at 11 am with Rev. Clay Bowden officiating. Burial services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY on Friday, June 3, 2005, at 2 pm with Rev. David Garrard officiating. Friends will be welcomed, beginning at 12 pm. Sweet dreams, Mom.
