Marjorie Furlong (Oswalt) (1924-2013) - Class Of 1941
Oswalt, Marjorie Furlong, 89, longtime Montgomery, AL resident and recently of Sweetwater, TN, entered Heavenly rest Saturday, April 27, 2013. A business school and Lanier HS graduate, she worked at Maxwell Field during WWII, served as a Red Cross volunteer, and was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles R. Oswalt, Jr. of Hardaway, AL, a 3 ½ year WWII veteran in 340th Group Communications, US Army Air Corps. Mr. Oswalt retired after 39 years with International Minerals and Chemicals as a general manager. Both were members of the Church of Christ and loved the Lord. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Nathan Earl and Herbert E. Furlong; brothers-in-law, John Thomas Oswalt (Mary Nell) and George Oswalt (Chiyo).
Survivors include daughters, Joyce Hancock (Garry) and Debra Ann Palmer (Glen), grandchildren, Monica Fricks (Donnie) and Suzanne Farmer; two great grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Farmer; brother, Hubert Furlong (Ellie Mae) and brother in-law, William Luther Oswalt (Wanda); sisters in-law, Doris Furlong and Colleen Furlong. Donations may be made to Faulkner University Adopt-A-Student Program. Funeral services 1:00 PM Wednesday, Leak-Memory Chapel with Mr. Martel Pace and Mr. Sam Wallace officiating.
