Richard Taylor Holley (1920-2008) - Class Of 1940

Richard Taylor Holley, Major, Retired, U.S. Army, died peacefully at his resi­dence in Wetumpka on Sun­day, April 20, 2008. Born to John Hosea Holley and Alpha Jane Rutherford Holley on July 2, 1920 in Macon County, Alabama, he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery serv­ing as deacon. Mr. Holley was most remembered at the Scott Street Registration Desk, welcoming all with his quiet, warm greeting on Sunday morning.

Major Holley served his country for 25 years with honor and distinction. His mili­tary career included two wars, New Guinea, Southern Philippines, World War II and the Korean War.

Funeral serv­ices were held on Wednes­day, April 23, 2008 at 11:00AM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Visitation was one hour pri­or to the service. Burial fol­lowed the services at Oakwood Annex with full military hon­ors.
