James Wilburn Worthington (1919-2010) - Class Of 1941

WORTHINGTON, James W., a lifelong resident of Montgom­ery, AL died peacefully at his home Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was one month shy of his 91st birthday. He was the son of Sanford & Lila Chesser Worthington and was married to Ann Speight Wor­thington who preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Ray Rossell (Synetta­); one daughter Regna Wor­thington Harper (Doug, III); three grandchildren, Hayden Ashley Rossell, Ward Ander­son & Worth Anderson. There will be a private family burial at Greenwood Cemetery Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Friends are in­vited to visit the family at 965 Park Avenue at the home of Mr.& Mrs. Dubo Harper from12:30-2:00 PM on Wednesday following the service. Mr. Worthington retired after a 60 year career with Mutual of New York Life Insurance. He was a Past President of the Capitol City Jaycees and was a charter member of the Capitol City Kiwanis Club. For many years he served as the cantor at Temple Beth Or and sang and worshiped at St. John’s Episcopal Church and at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter where he was a parishioner until his death.
