Harry Simon, son of Harry and Ruth Monnier Simon, was born in Demopolis, Alabama on March 1, 1921. He spent his early years in Demopolis before moving to Montgomery where he attended Cloverdale Jr. High and Sidney Lanier High School. He also attended The University of Alabama where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
On June 30, 1942, Harry and Peggy Bedenbaugh were married in Jasper, Alabama. After serving in the United States Air Force during World War II, they made their home in Montgomery where he was the manager of Southern Storage Warehouse Company for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Monnier Simon and twin sister Ruth Simon Doster.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Peggy Bedenbaugh Simon; son, Harry James (Clare); daughter, Zan Pappas (Greg); grandchildren, Hunter Pappas (Tiffany); Laura Pappas Hassell (Lee); Will Pappas; Cole Simon (Whitney); Jack Simon; Rebecca Simon Mathews (Wright) and great-grandchildren Isabella and Harrison Pappas; Michael and Hunter Hassell; Lucy and Harry Parker Simon.
He is also survived by his brother, Joe Simon; sister, Clara Johnson (Harold); sister-in-law, Bobbie Christian (Joe); and brother-in-law, Fred Bedenbaugh (Pat) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 1:00PM. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Papa will be remembered for his guidance and constant love of family.
