Inez Cowper Haigler (Sims) (1920-2009) - Class Of 1939

SIMS, Inez Cowper Haigler died at home July 8, 2009. She was born in Montgomery on December 26, 1920 to the late Dr. James Robert Haigler and Annie Lucie Stuart Haigl­er. She was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in1939. She married Carlton Sims in October 1939 and they were married until his death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister Georgette Haigler Jones of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Sims is survived by her two sons and their wives -James Carlton Sims & Nan and Lee Haigler Sims & Jane. She is also survived by her sis­ter, Jimi Haigler Andoe and her husband Graham; her grandchildren: James Carl­ton Sims, Jr.; Elizabeth Robin­son Sims Vess and her hus­band Vincent, Lucie Stuart Sims Edwards and her hus­band John Benson, and Catherine Chandler Sims;and her great grandchildren -James Carlton Sims, III,Madison Stuart Edwards, Lay­la Nan Vess, and Marshall Reid Vess. She was a charter member of the First United Methodist Church; Francis Marion Daughters of the American Revolution, Nicholas Mer­iwether Daughters of the American Colonists, the Mont­gomery Country Club, and the Magnolia Garden Club. A private graveside service will be held on Friday July10th followed by a memorial service at 11:00 in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Karl K. Stegall officiating. The family wishes to express their appreciation for her dedicated caregivers.
