Amelia Elizabeth (Betty) Roswald Bloom, died October 14, 2014 at the age of 94, born September 24, 1920 in Montgomery, Alabama to Edna Friedman and Simon Roswald, II, who predeceased her in death along with her beloved husband, Harold William Bloom, daughter Edna Jane Bloom, and sister Mildred Roswald Goldsmith.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Bloom (John Allen) Dees, Harold William (Anne Campbell) Bloom, Jr.; Grandchildren, John Allen (Jennifer Hackman) Dees, Jr., Jane Leslie Dees (David Lee) Speigner, Elizabeth Bloom (Taylor Alexander) Williams, Harold William Bloom, III and Hamilton Roswald Bloom; Great-grandchildren, Samuel Virden Morse, III, John Tatham Dees, Leslie Hammer Dees, and Amelia Lee Glenn Speigner.
Betty graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1938 where she performed in plays and was manager of the Debate Team.
A life long member of Temple Beth Or, she was a member of Sisterhood and taught Sunday School Kindergarten for many years. She was past president of Montgomery Section Council of Jewish Women, served on the board of Girl Scouts, in her youth was a member of a mounted Girl Scout troop and was active for many years in League of Women Voters, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and Shakespeare Players.
Playing bridge, china painting and sharing life memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children, brought her much joy.
Our family cannot find words to thank Allean King for her love and care. Allean was a blessing to Mama and our family. Allean is truly "Saint Allean".
Graveside services will be held at the Bloom Plot, Eternal Rest/Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11 o'clock with Rabbi Elliot Stevens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
