Ann Merritt (Booker) (1921-2006) - Class Of 1938

Ann Merritt Booker March 17, 1921 – June 29, 2006. Ann Merritt Booker, who has been a life long resident of Montgomery, AL passed away after an extended illness on June 29, 2006 at the Camellia Lanes Assisted Living Home in Prattville, AL. Ann was the daughter of the late Sory and Elberta Merritt of Montgomery, AL. She has been a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery. While her primary goal was that of raising her children, Ann also owned an operated The Fashion Tree which was located in the Normandale Shopping Center. As she was an avid traveler, her late husband, Lee Booker, and Ann did extensive traveling.In addition, Ann had a love of music and was an accomplished pianist. Mrs. Booker was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Booker and also by her husband Lee Roy Ussery, one step-son Robin Ussery and one-step daughter Mary Ussery Lindsey. Survivors include two sons, being James “Jimmy” Merritt Reed, Sr. and his wife Charlene, and Glen Barry Reed, Sr. and his wife Carol, who reside in Montgomery and Mobile respectively. In addition, Mrs. Booker also had three step-sons, Dr. Lee Booker, Jr. of Birmingham, Frank Ussery of Montgomery. Mrs. Booker also had two step-daughters, Cookie Ussery Knott of Montgomery. In addition, her grandchildren are Paige Merritt Prosser of Atlanta, Ga, Glen Barry Reed, Jr. of Baton Roughe, LA, and James Merritt Reed, Jr. of Gulfport, Ms. Her great grandchildren are Brooke Reed Prosser, Bethany Ann Reed, Rebecca Merritt Reed, Nathaniel Barry Reed, Joshua Noah Reed, James Merritt Fulmer, and Lilly Rose Fulmer. Graveside services will be Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 4:00 P.M. in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Leak-Memory on Saturday.
