WEIL, Virginia Loeb, 86, a lifelong resident of Montgomery,AL, died peacefully at her home Friday, October 3, 2008. Funeral services will beheld at Leak-Memory Chapel on Tuesday, October, 7, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., Rabbi Elliot Stevens officiating, with visitation there beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Weil was preceded in death by her parents, Anita and Victor Loeb, as well asher sister, Frances Loeb Block. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Robert Schoenhof Weil; her children, Virginia Ann (Vicki) Weil of Washington, DC, Rosalind Weil Markstein (Daniel H. III) of Birmingham, AL, and Robert Schoenhof Weil, II; her grandchildren, Daniel Harry Markstein, IV (Eileen) of Birmingham, AL, Nicholas Weil Langman (Jennifer), Virginia Weil Markstein, Andrea RossLangman, Robert Schoenhof Weil, III (Alicia), and Georgia Ruth Cardinal Weil as well as 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Weil has long been known for her great love of family and friends, her extraordinary beauty, wit and charm. She was generous in deed and spirit, which led to her many community commitments. She was involved in the establishment of the Montgomery Academy from its inception. As an arts student and advocate, she was a member of the Alabama State Arts Council, served as president of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, vice-president of the Montgomery Symphony, and president of the Antiquarians Society. Mrs.Weil was a lifetime member of Temple Beth-Or and served much of that time on its Sisterhood Committee. For numerous years she was a Pink Lady for St. Margaret's Hospital. More recently, she helped to establish the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Mrs. Weil attended Miss Margaret Booth's School, Sidney Lanier High School and Wheaton College in Norton,Massachusetts. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daniel Markstein, IV, Nicholas Langman and Robert Weil III as well as her great nephews, Josh Mandell, Charles Mandell, Drew Weiland Dustin Weil. Honorary pallbearers will be her beloved doctors, Wick Many, Jr.and Duncan McRae, Jr. as well as her good friends, Will Hill Tankersley, and the members of The Thirteen.
