Martha Bowman Blackmon died Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at her residence in Eufaula, Alabama. Born July 21, 1920, in Culloden, Georgia, she was 85. Mrs. Blackmon was the daughter of the late Lois Duckworth and William Washington Bowman.

Mrs. Blackmon moved to Montgomery in 1927. She graduated with honors from Sidney Lanier High School. She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Mrs. Blackmon graduated from Hollins College where she was a member of the riding team.

Mrs. Blackmon was very active in the community serving as a MYF Leader, Girl Scout Leader, PTA Volunteer, Sunday School Leader and was active in her Missionary Circle. She served as president of the Eufaula Women's Golf Club, Eufaula Bowling Club and her Garden Club. Mrs. Blackmon won an award from the Dairymen Herd Improvement Association and was in addition to her success as a Dairy Person, also a successful Antique Dealer and Land Investor.

Mrs. Blackmon was an avid card player, a supportive wife, and a great mother with limited culinary expertise. In addition to her love for playing cards, she was a great sports enthusiast. She loved following her sons while they played in sports events. She was known for her love and devotion to animals and her pets.

Mrs. Blackmon is survived by four sons:

Iverson Bowman Blackmon, Eufaula, AL and Panama City, FL,
Bretton "Brett" McLeod Blackmon, Lakeland, FL,
Scott Bouchelle Blackmon, Eufaula, AL.

one daughter:
Martha "Sister" Blackmon, Milligan, Panama City, Florida.

two daughters-in-law:
Billye Hamer Blackmon
Debby Lynn Blackmon.

one son-in-law:
James Thomas Milligan.

her favorite six grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren:

Graveside services were held Thursday, September 1, 2005, at 10am in the Fairview Cemetery Addition. Dr. AL Harbour officiated with Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula directing.
