LOFTON, Philippa Mae Gardner, lifelong resident of Montgomery, died Wednesday,May 14 in The Woodlands, Texas. Born December 26, 1916 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a 1936 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. Philippa lived a long and happy life that included many travels all over the world. Preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Sanders Lofton, Jr. and son Michael Allen Lofton. Survived by sons, Sidney S. Lofton, III of Montgomery and John Lofton of The Woodlands, Texas; Daughters-in-law, Karen and Vickie;Granddaughter, Lori Verdeyen and husband Christopher of Belleville, Illinois;Grandsons, John Andrew, The Woodlands, Texas, Michael Allen, Jr. and Johnny Eric both of Montgomery; Great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Leroy and Elijah Verdeyen. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Nancy Pickard and Harold B. Blach, Jr. of Birmingham; Joe and Carolyn Gardner of Port St. Lucie, Florida; John Gardner of Washington, D.C.; Billy and Jimmy Lofton of Montgomery; and Ginny and Dr.Steve Lofton of Gainesville,Florida. Sisters-in-law, Lessie(Cuba) Stroker of Montgomery, and Gregg Lofton of Gainesville, Florida. Visitation will be at Leak Memory Funeral Home, 945Lincoln Road, Montgomery Monday, May 19 from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. Funeral Service willbe at Leak Memory Tuesday,May 20 at 11:00 a.m. with burial immediately followingat Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
