Phillipa Mae Gardner (Lofton) (1916-2008) - Class Of 1936

LOFTON, Philippa Mae Gard­ner, lifelong resident of Mont­gomery, died Wednesday,May 14 in The Woodlands, Texas. Born December 26, 1916 in Memphis, Tennessee.  She was a 1936 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. Philippa lived a long and happy life that included many travels all over the world. Preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Sanders Loft­on, Jr. and son Michael Allen Lofton. Survived by sons, Sidney S. Lofton, III of Montgomery and John Lofton of The Wood­lands, Texas; Daughters-in-law, Karen and Vickie;Granddaughter, Lori Ver­deyen and husband Christo­pher of Belleville, Illinois;Grandsons, John Andrew, The Woodlands, Texas, Michael Allen, Jr. and Johnny Eric both of Montgomery; Great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Le­roy and Elijah Verdeyen. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Nan­cy Pickard and Harold B. Blach, Jr. of Birmingham; Joe and Carolyn Gardner of Port St. Lucie, Florida; John Gard­ner of Washington, D.C.; Billy and Jimmy Lofton of Mont­gomery; and Ginny and Dr.Steve Lofton of Gainesville,Florida. Sisters-in-law, Lessie(Cuba) Stroker of Montgom­ery, and Gregg Lofton of Gai­nesville, Florida. Visitation will be at Leak Memory Funeral Home, 945Lincoln Road, Montgomery Monday, May 19 from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. Funeral Service willbe at Leak Memory Tuesday,May 20 at 11:00 a.m. with burial immediately followingat Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
