Mildred L. "Mimi" Corbitt (Spear) (1918-2011) - Class Of 1937

Mildred Corbitt "Mimi" Spear died suddenly on March 23, 2011, at the age of 93. She was a lifelong resident of the Montgomery area. Mrs. Spear was preceded in death by her husband Martin Spear and her son Martin Wesley Spear.

Mrs. Spear is survived by:
Her son Michael Corbitt Spear and his wife Ann;
Her daughter-in-law Eva Spear;
Her grandson Clay Spear and his wife Christina,
Her granddaughter Cynthia Dixon and her husband Keith;
Her granddaughter Shannon Scott and her husband Kellen;
Her granddaughter Suzanne Spear;

Also her great grandchildren:
Bethany and Brock Whaley;
Danielle and Abigail Dixon;
LeeAnn, Wesley and John Martin Spear;
Karina Scott and her soon to be born sister;
Her many nieces and nephews were very special to her.

Mrs. Spear had been a dedicated member of Capitol Heights United Methodist Church since 1939. For many years she was a youth leader, a life member of the United Methodist Women, and the Sanctuary Choir. Mrs. Spear had also been a member of the Eastern Star since 1936.

A funeral service was held Sunday, March 27, at 2:00PM from Leak Memory Chapel. The burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Reverend Jackie Slaughter officiating. Visitation was one hour preceding the service.

Pallbearers were Ed Reynolds, Brad Crew, Mac Crew, Mike Crew, Keith Dixon and Kellen Scott.

The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff of Wesley Gardens Assisted Living Facility where she has been a resident for the last two and a half years.
