NEWSOM, Annie Laurie Mitchell , 87, died peacefully at John Knox Manor in Montgomery on June 9, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. The family will receive friends at Leak- Memory prior to the service, from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Annie Laurie was married for 60 years to Joseph Douglas Newsom, Sr. also of Montgomery and is survived by two children: Diane Newsom Barnes of Hiram, Maine and Joseph Douglas Newsom, Jr. of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. She is also survived by a sister: Lorene Mitchell Boles of Montgomery; a brother Edward C. Mitchell of Albany, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Brian Boles, George Boles, Jeff Clark, Christopher Mixon, Ed Mixon and Jason Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Keystone Sunday School Class of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the James M. Mitchell Family Foundation.
