Billy Wible (1916-2011) - Class Of 1935

William Wilson Wible, a 1935 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, died on May 25, 2011. He was 94 years old and one month shy of his 95th birthday. Mr. Wible was born in Irwin, Ohio, on June 25, 1916 to Wilson Jennings Wible and Gladys Richardson Wible. In 1922 he moved with his parents, two brothers and one sister to Montgomery to their dairy farm at the corner of Vaughn Road and Taylor Road in Pike Road, Alabama.

Mr. Wible lettered in Football while at Lanier. He played the positions of guard and tackle. He attended Auburn University where he also went out for the football team. He eventually left Auburn to work on the family farm. He later worked as a wheel alignment mechanic for 30 years and then ran a lawn service during his retirement.

Mr. Wible is predeceased by his parents, Wilson Jennings Wible and Gladys Richardson Wible; his aunt and long time teacher at Cloverdale school, Ruth Richardson; his brothers Richard Andrew Wible, James William Wible and his sister Mae Wible Bargainer. He is survived by his children, Linda Wible Leverett of Troy, Alabama, Anita Wible Brendelson of Montgomery, Alabama, and David Jennings Wible of Mobile, Alabama.
