Louise Maness (Lumley) (1917-2011) - Class Of 1935

Louise Maness Lumley passed away on March 30, 2011, in Marietta, Georgia. Mrs. Lumley was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 29, 1917. She lived for more than fifty years in Millbrook, Alabama before moving to Marietta in 1999. Louise had fond memories of her very dear friends in Millbrook.

Louise lived a life that was inspiring to everyone she met. Everyone who knew Louise, even if only briefly, felt embraced and blessed by her graciousness, her radiance, her caring, and her humor and generosity. Louise's engaging spirit, her warmth and her sense of purpose never waned. She loved her family with passion and showed all of us how life should be lived.

Louise was named 'Woman of the Year' in Millbrook for her devoted community service and was a long-time, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Millbrook. She was a talented flower arranger, artist and musician. She most enjoyed singing with the church choir and participating in a dulcimer group. In Marietta she became a member of a choral group called 'The Melody Makers' and helped bring the joy of music to those who are sick and shut in.

Mrs. Lumley was preceded in death by:
Her mother and father Caroline and Bonner Purvis Maness;
Her husband Robert Tyler Lumley Sr;
Her brother Buddy Maness;
Her sister Clara Schroter;
Her sister Christine Ellicott;
Her sister Eleanor Dubis.

Mrs. Lumley is survived by:
Her son Robert T Lumley, Jr and his wife Marian of New Augusta, Mississipi;
Her son Jimmy F Lumley and his wife Kitt of Columbus, Georgia;
Her daughter Patricia Brewer and her husband Bruce of Carrollton, Georgia;
Her daughter Robin Louise Ayres and her husband Don of Marietta, Georgia;
Her daughter Elzena Ellis and her husband Steve of Woodstock, Georgia;
Her sister Lula Knapp of Lubbock, Texas;
Her fifteen (15) grandchildren;
Her twenty (20) great-grandchildren
Her three nieces and one nephew plus many great-nieces and great-nephews.
