SMITH, Hazel Harper Williams, age 91, died at a local hospital on July 5, 2007, after a brief illness. She was born July 13, 1915, in Brewton, AL and moved to Montgomery as a young child. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School with an Art Scholarship to Huntingdon College. She is survived by two daughters: Sheryl S. Keller (Courtney) of Coconut Grove, FL, & Suzanne Smith of Montgomery, AL; two grandsons: Christian G. Keller of Coconut Grove, FL & Brian C. Keller (Michelle LaScala) of San Diego, CA; one nephew: Richard G. Williams (Barbara) & their daughter Caroline Grace Williams all of Wanatchee, WA. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, W. Walton Smith, her parents Moses A. and Hazel Harper Williams of Selma, AL; brother, Richard G. Williams, sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan“Bunny” Williams & niece, Deborah Williams England. Mrs. Smith worked for the Alabama Public Library System, was an avid reader, was active in the Alabama Business Women’s Association and elected Woman of the Year. She was devoted to her family and pets, lived a long and happy life and will be missed by those who knew her. Graveside services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2007, at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Michael Payne officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, July 7, 2007, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel.
