Carolyn Shivers (Mastin) (1916-2008) - Class Of 1933

MASTIN, Carolyn Shivers, age 92, resident of Montgomery, AL, died on August 13, 2008 after a brief illness.  Mrs. Mas­tin was born to Orville Scott Shivers and Marie Vincentelli Shivers on April 21, 1916, in Montgomery, AL. She grew up in Montgomery and grad­uated from Sidney Lanier High School.  She was active in her church and the com­munity through her work with St. Anne's Guild and as a Pink Lady at St. Margaret's and Baptist Hospitals.  She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Peter Blackwell Mastin, and her brother, Marc V. Shiv­ers. Survivors include her sis­ters, Jane Poundstone, Mont­gomery, AL and Marie Farley (John), Wetumpka, AL; daughters, Marie ''Scottie'' M. Arnold, Auburn, AL, Emily J. Seawell (Charlie), Amherst,VA, and Byrn M. Meyer (Jay), Montgomery, AL; sons, Peter Blackwell Mastin, Tallassee, AL, John Marc Mastin (Jill), Montgomery, AL, William Her­vey Mastin (Jan), Peachtree City, GA;  grandchildren, Peter B. Mastin (Nora), Atlanta, GA, George H. Mastin (Ramona), U.S. Territory of Guam, William M. Mastin (Belinda), Park City, Utah, Charles W. Mastin (Tara), Brooklyn, NY,  Griffin Ar­nold, Orlando, FL,  Hollis Ar­nold, Charleston, SC,  Ashley Mastin (Jordan Gray) and Molly Mastin of Atlanta, GA,  Kelley Mastin, Auburn, AL,  Dale Meyer, Kristina Meyer, John Marc Meyer, and Caro­line Mastin of Montgomery, AL; and her seven great-grandchildren, Georgeanna, Kaylynne, Nick, Peter, Yan, River, and Jack Mastin. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of her caregivers over the last four years with a special thanks to Princella, Michelle, and Wan­da for their friendship, love,and patience in watching re­runs of Walker, Texas Ranger. Visitation will be at Leak-Memory Funeral Home on Fri­day, August 15, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, Montgom­ery, AL, on Saturday, August 16th, at 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Oakwood Ceme­tery. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family re­quests that in lieu of flowers,contributions be made to Catholic Charities c/o St. Pet­er's Catholic Church in Mont­gomery, AL or Wiregrass Hos­pice. Leak-Memory Chapel Directing.
