Lena Elizabeth Pirtle (Phibbs) (1913-2012) - Class Of 1932

 Lena Elizabeth Pirtle Phibbs passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in a local nursing home. She was affectionately known as "Lib" by her family and friends. "Lib" celebrated her 99th birthday on January 21, 2012. She was the oldest of six children of the late Henry M. and Susan Mary Pirtle.

Ms Phibbs is survived by her sister Artie Pirtle VanFleet Savage of Montgomery, and several nieces and nephews and their children. Lib graduated in 1937 from High Point College in North Carolina, where she met her husband of 58 years, Edward J. Phibbs. Lib taught high school home economics until Ed went into the U. S. Army in 1940. Lib enjoyed working with her church, garden club, sewing, playing bridge, traveling, and her association with the Professional Homemaker Club. Lib will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery.
