Tommy Ragsdale (-2012) (1956)

Raymond attended Sidney Lanier High School from 1941-43. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific Campaign until 1946. He entered A.P.I. in 1946 under the G.I. Bill in the School of Architecture. He graduated from A.P.I. in the summer of 1951.

In 1952 Raymond joined the firm of William Cox, Cox Architectural Associates, Albany, GA.

In 1953 Raymond married Grace Bryan of Macon, GA. Grace and Raymond moved to Macon, GA, and established his own architectural firm where he drew the plans for some of the very first nursing homes in the state of Georgia. Grace and Raymond adopted two sons early in their married life, Russell and Bryan Ragsdale. After seven years of marriage they had a third son Randall Ragsdale.

Raymond had a massive heart attack at the end of 1963 and later died on January 1, 1964.

I owe so much to my brother because he insisted I listen to classical, opera, and big band music. He taught me how to play chess early and I have passed that on to our grandkids. He taught me the value of making friends with everyone. He taught me the value of reading classic literature and enjoying it. Everyone should have an older brother like I had.
