Sara Janet “Jan”Jones EUBANK, age 63, of Mountain Brook, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, of cancer. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 10:00am at Canterbury United Methodist Church, Mountain Brook, Alabama. Burial followed at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham, Alabama. The family received friends at the church from 9:00am until service time.
Jan was born March 10, 1945 in Atlanta, Texas. She was a 1963 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, Montgomery,Alabama, where she was a majorette, a yearbook favorite and a member of the National Honor Society. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cloverdale Park.
Jan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967 in elementary education at the University of Alabama. She also received a Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1968. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Social Sorority and Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society. She was also a Corolla favorite and an Air Force ROTC sponsor. Jan earned an EdS Degree in Guidance and Counseling from New York University in1973.
Jan touched many young lives as a Guidance Counselor at Mountain Brook High School where she worked for over 30 years. Jan held professional memberships in Alabama Education Association, National Education Association, and the Alabama Counseling Association. In 2001 Jan was selected by the Alabama School Counselor Association as the High School Counselor of the Year. She also earned the Top Performance Award for excellence in education at Mountain Brook High School in 2003.
Jan was a beloved wife, mother and sister. She was devoted to her church, family, friends, and community. She was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church where she enjoyed serving on committees. Jan was elected as the 2007-2009 Regent of Cahawba Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

of Montgomery, Alabama - Grandson - Bastian Lee Eubank.
- Sister - Halcyann Jones Badham
of Vestavia Hills, Alabama. - Sister-in-Law - Tracy Rodriguez De Castro(Gonzalo)
- Nephews - James and Lee Rodriguez DeCastro
- Niece - Sandra Rodriguez De Castro
- Many other loving family members.
