In Memory Of Our Poets

Valeria D. McGuire (1961-2005) - Class Of 1979

Valeria D McGuire died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack while teaching a women's bible study group in Montgomery, Alabama, on October 15, 2005. She was only 44.

Survived By: Her husband, Elbert
Her children: Jacquinta, Ariel, Terri, Quandarius, and Kimberland.
One grand daughter: Jaquria
Mother: Bess McGuire.
Brothers: Berrie, Curtis, Michael, Quinn, Mitch, and Keith.
Sisters: Veronica and Donilea
A very special neice: Monica Watson

"My sister was fun, loving, and just a beautiful person to be around. She 'wore her heart on her sleeve', and cried just as hard when she was happy as she did when she was unhappy. One of her most favorite pastimes was being a DJ. She really enjoyed music and entertaining others. Valeria was also very athletic. She played basketball, softball and a great tennis player. Instead of pursuing the opportunity to compete as an accomplished tennis player on a higher level, she chose a different path in life. She chose motherhood and was wonderful at that. Valeria was also an excellent cook. It made her happy to see others enjoy her food. Just prior to her death, Valeria had given her life to Christ. That being said, I know in my heart that when God looked down and saw how beautifully His flower had blossomed, He reached down and plucked Valeria up to be in heaven with Him. She is loved by so many of us. We miss her so very much, but we all know that God's kingdom is a more beautiful place, since He added her to it."
