Pat C. Ireland, born Patsy Ruth Caton on March 29, 1928, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, died suddenly at a health care facility in Montrose, Alabama, on Saturday, July 26, 2003.
She was a Registered Nurse and practiced for over 45 years in Montgomery. She loved the Montgomery Little Theatre, nursing, and keeping her home lovely for her friends and family. She was especially proud of her family members who were in the healthcare profession.
Her Minister, Rector Mark Tusken, formerly of Christ the Redeemer Church, now Rector of St. Mark's Church, Geneva, IL, was dear to her, as was the Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Louise Caton Weed and Helen Jean Caton McNeill, and by her husband of 25 years, Bey Ireland.
She is survived by her three children, Patti Burgess (Wayne) McAhren and Nancy Burgess (Thomas) Hughes, both of Mobile, Alabama, and John Edward (Angela) Burgess of Jasper, Georgia, and one Granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Burgess of Dacula, Georgia.
Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, John Wesley McNeill of Montgomery, Alabama, and Edward Weed of Friday Harbor, Washington; nine nieces and nephews; ten great-nieces and great-nephews; her step-daughter, Melanie Ireland, and step-grandchildren, Bret and Luke Ireland, of Marietta, Georgia.
After cremation, at a future date, a memorial service will be held at her favorite place, Pensacola Beach, Florida, where Pat will stand on her head one more time.
