Ruth Margaret Carr (Ryan) (1951-2009) - Class Of 1969

Margaret Ruth Carr, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and dedicated physician passed away May 7, 2009. Ruth was born in Waco, Texas July 2, 1951 and was raised in Alaska, Texas, Idaho and Alabama.

Ruth graduated from Texas Christian University with a BA in Piano Performance. She later attended Harvard Medical School and the University of Oklahoma Medical School where she received a degree in Medicine. As a plastic surgeon in the Los Angeles area for 28 years, Ruth was an exceptionally caring and compassionate doctor as well as a uniquely talented surgeon. She was a longtime supporter and member of Interplast, donating many hours to treating patients in South America, Asia and Africa.

Ruth is survived by her husband, William M. Ryan, sons Reed M. Ryan and Evan A. Ryan, her parents, Patricia and Reed Carr of San Marcos, Texas, sisters Sara Carr of Lockhart Texas and Anne Felan (Joe) of Little Rock, Arkansas and one nephew and two nieces from Little Rock, Arkansas.

A memorial service was held at the Westwood United Methodist Church, Wednesday, May13 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to Interplast, The Semel Institute at UCLA or Westwood United Methodist Church.
