David Cecil Beverly of Marbury, Alabama, passed away on January 23, 2019, at the age of 67. David was born on May 4, 1951, in Marietta, Georgia. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama with the Class of 1969.
David attended Auburn University and received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Auburn University at Montgomery. David served the community for many years through his career as an Intake Supervisor with the Montgomery County Juvenile Court. He was an avid Auburn football fan and enjoyed hosting tailgate parties and attending many regular season and bowl games through the years.
David loved music, especially The Beatles, and was the lead singer in many bands. He is fondly remembered for singing “Hey Jude” at the annual Senior Assembly at Sidney Lanier High School in May 1969. David loved all animals and was devoted to his many rescued dogs and cats. He enjoyed gardening and achieved the designation of Master Gardener through the Elmore County Extension Program.
David loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Gray and Addie Louise Fleming Beverly, both of whom he cared for selflessly during their final years. He is survived by Bobbye Baggett of Marbury, AL, his siblings, Philip A. Beverly (Marcie) of Selma, AL, Harold A. Beverly of Reeltown, AL, and Joy Beverly Wright (Jim) of Trussville, AL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank dear friends Darleane, David S. and Ruthie for their love throughout the years and their continued support of Bobbye through this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 2-4 PM at Prattville Memorial Chapel, 841 Fairview Avenue, Prattville, AL.
