David Beard, 74, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Jackson Hospital on Monday, April 29th, 2024.
David's life will be celebrated at 3 PM on Saturday, May 25th, at 257 Honoraville Road, Luverne, Alabama 36049.
David was first and foremost the kind of Southern gentleman every mama hopes her son turns out to be. He always knew how to treat any lady he encountered, treated his elders with all the respect they deserved, loved the Lord with all his heart & soul, and constantly went out of his way to help anyone who needed it in any way he could. He was an official Mr. Helper to all his friends and neighbors when fixing whatever was broken or finding that specific, obscure part needed.
David also loved fishing in his free time, but his true passion was vintage automobiles. He made a fine career out of restoring old cars and trucks to pristine condition, and they were always real beauties & as close to a piece of art as possible.
He was also loyal to a fault regarding his friends and family. He loved being Miss Kaye's "Hunny Bunny" throughout their wonderful time together, and her Lawnmower Man Extraordinaire! He was the kind of friend everyone wants to have and that friendship was cherished by his best buddies: Rick Boyett, Bobby Cheek, Gary "Frog" Fountain, and Andy Tomlin. He meant so much to so many people during his life and they will all keep his memory alive for many more years.
David was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Dean Beard; his parents, Raymond & Nell Fike Beard; and his brother, Jeff Beard.
He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Kaye Tomlin Oswald; siblings, Steve (Veronica) Beard, Sheila Douglas, and Polly (Harold) Stewart; and nieces & nephews, Hannah Puentes, Samuel Douglas, Jennifer Judice, Edward Souza, and Lauren Kassamali.

Dave was my Irish-twin brother, older by 51 weeks. Always bigger and stronger, he was both my prime adversary and my self-appointed Protector-in-Chief (brothers always, side-by-side). Very different in our life approach, but unified by love. He lived 51 weeks until I arrived, and now I'll live however long God gives me without him. But in my memory are our Colorado and California adventures. And a thousand million lesser moments as children and teenagers. And a few shared sorrows. Love you, Dave! Thank you, Kaye!
