Got to "Navy boot" in Orlando, FL about 0230 in the morning, August 12, 1971. The people in charge took my group to the chow hall for a meal. There were about 4 servers inside dishing out something to eat. One of those guys was Don Hussey.
Don would have been on assignment there during what as called "service week" in boot. That would have placed him arriving in Orlando about the 1st or 2nd week of July. I was really tired from the long trip that day, so just got my meal and ate. After chow, my group went to the barracks to await the 0500 wakeup with the trashcan alarm clock. Didn't even realize it was Don till the next morning. That was the last time I ever saw him. Fair winds and following seas Don.
