Scottye Hedstrom photo from Wagner High School.Scottye Hedstrom died on Friday, July 19, 2002, at her home in Burbank, California. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of Robert and Peggy Hedstrom of Sumter, South Carolina. She attended Wagner High School at Clark Airforce Base in the Philippines before graduating from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama. Scottye went on to graduate from the College of William and Mary in 1974, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Upon receiving a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri, she moved to South Carolina to work as a newscaster for WSCQ in Cayce. In 1979, Scottye received a law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was editor of the Law Review. Later that same year she moved to Los Angeles, California, and began working in entertainment law. During her time there Scottye worked for New World Television on the soap opera "Santa Barbara," the USA Network, and Walt Disney Television.

While with Disney, she served as the vice-president for network business affairs working on the popular sitcoms "Ellen" and "Home Improvement." She had recently acted as a consultant for the studio production firm of Stasson & Associates, LLC.  Stephanie Beemon of Stasson and Associates had words of praise, "Scottye was an attorney's attorney, other attorney's looked to her for the final word in our business."

Scottye was an avid reader, traveler, and enjoyed SCUBA diving, which had taken her all over the world to such places as Micronesia, Australia, and South America. She was also was interested in soap opera writing and liked to attend Broadway Theater in New York.

In addition to her parents Scottye is survived by one sister, Penny McIntyre, and one brother, Robbe Hedstrom.
